I had a whirlwind weekend shooting 4 photoshoots outside in Suffield CT. One of the shoots was with these lovely ladies! They wanted to get some shots with the horse the daughter rides as well as a "traditional" shot of mom and daughter lying in the grass like the one shown below. It was a treat working with these people and the horses. I will say one thing, horses do not always cooperate with the photographer, but we got it! :-)

When you visit a website and you click on "About us" or here's the "team" or meet the "owners" or "our people", like me, you probably want to see photos right? Now, what are the photos going to tell you? What they look like, right? Okay, that's all good, but what does that tell me about the person? We live in a time where we are posting selfies, videos, snapchatting (whatever that is) and instagramming. Wouldn't you rather see a headshot posed in a position that somehow showcases who they really are? I would. That's personal branding.
When I look at a picture I think, this person is funny, nice, warm or they mean business. How do you want to be depicted. I ask that when people come into my studio. How do you want to be photographed? Are you a smiling person, do you have a prop, do you want to look engaged or more down to earth. Photos tell stories. What's yours?
Jack was into the whole photoshoot; posing for me and actually coming up with locations and posing ideas. He became my little director. Margot was into it for about 10 minutes and that was it. I followed her around hoping she would give me just one more shot and then one more and then one more but all I got was the word "No". Well, I can't really tell her mom I didn't get any pictures because she said "No". So, I played with them both and followed her around wherever she went, every once in while pulling out my camera; "No". But, I didn't give up, I walked very quietly behind the bush where she was playing and finally snuck in a few and got these! Gotcha! The moral of the story...don't give up and try to play their game as long as possible. Something will come from it.
I was hired to take a picture of some of the lawyers at my firm for an ad that would appear in the Moffly Media magazine in November. Moffly Media's publications include "Fairfield Living", "Westport Living", as well as other affluent towns in Fairfield county. However, the lawyers were in two different office locations and were not available on the dates of the shoot.
The challenge: to make it look like everyone was in the same room when the picture at the top right was taken. The solution: I took a picture of 6 of the 10 attorneys in that room as shown in the picture above. I then traveled to the other office location and took individual shots of the remaining 4 attorneys. When you do this, you have to be aware of the lighting and the angle in which they are standing. I had them stand in different angles so I had options when "Inserting" them into the original photo. It took a couple of hours to get it just right. It was a fun challenge and I like the result. Can you guess which 4 were inserted? I recently had a shoot with a beautiful 40 year mom of two. She asked "What should I bring to the shoot?" This is the first question I get asked after booking the shoot. Because the photo shoot is all about YOU, I want you to bring that fancy dress you wore once and hung up in the back of your closet or that sparkling jewelry you wore for that wedding years ago. Bring your flowiest of skirts, revealing of shirts, I want you to feel your sexiest and most beautiful. In addition to the glam, I suggest bringing jeans, tank tops and an outfit that you might wear to a luncheon for a start. Then I fill in the rest of shoot with beautiful outfits from my studio wardrobe that you can choose from. My client was so happy to be able to showcase a few pieces of jewelry she only wore once and a fancy sexy dress she forgot she had hidden in the back of her closet. We had a lot of fun! So, I ask you...What's in your closet?
